Last updated August 11, 2026. This notice applies to the PlusYar mobile application, plusyar.com and related support and safety interactions (together, the “Services”).
The information we process depends on the features you use, the details you choose to provide, your privacy and permission settings, and applicable law. PlusYar is responsible for deciding how personal information is processed where privacy law uses the concept of a controller.
This notice should be read with our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines and Child Safety Standards.
1. Scope and responsibility
This notice covers information PlusYar processes to provide and protect the Services. It does not govern an independent organizer, venue, ticket provider, map provider or other third party that handles information for its own purposes. Review the privacy terms of those parties before sharing information with them.
2. Information we process
Depending on how you use PlusYar, we may process:
- Account and profile information: name, username, email or phone contact, authentication information, profile photos, date of birth or age, gender, general location, language, interests and profile preferences.
- Events and communities: events and communities you create, join, follow or administer; categories, descriptions, dates, locations, costs, access settings, membership roles, join requests, invitations, attendance and organizer actions.
- Content and communications: messages, photos, polls, reports, support requests and, when you choose voice features and grant microphone access, audio or voice messages.
- Location information: approximate location derived from an address, IP address or device signals, and precise device location only when you grant the relevant permission. Location supports nearby discovery, maps and distance estimates.
- Device, usage and diagnostic information: device and app identifiers, operating system, app version, IP address, timestamps, feature interactions, language, crash logs, security events and performance diagnostics.
- Permissions and notification choices: whether you allow notifications, location, camera, microphone or photo-library access, along with your PlusYar notification preferences.
- Safety and integrity information: blocks, reports, moderation decisions, evidence submitted with a report, suspected policy violations and information needed to prevent fraud, abuse or harm.
Optional profile or audience information may be considered sensitive in some places. We use it only where permitted by law, with the controls and consent required in your jurisdiction. Do not include sensitive information in public content unless you intend to share it with the selected audience.
3. Where information comes from
We receive information directly from you, automatically from your device when you use the Services, and from other PlusYar users when they invite you, interact with you, add content involving you or submit a report. We may also receive limited information from sign-in, map, app-store, analytics, hosting, security or support providers when you use the corresponding feature.
4. Why we use information
We use information to:
- Create, authenticate and maintain accounts and profiles
- Show relevant nearby events, communities, people and interests
- Support maps, distance estimates, invitations, join requests, chats, notifications and organizer tools
- Apply the visibility, access, audience, age-range and capacity choices selected by users and organizers
- Provide support, communicate service updates and respond to privacy or safety requests
- Measure reliability and improve usability, accessibility, performance and features
- Detect spam, fraud, abuse, underage use, security incidents and violations of our policies
- Comply with law, enforce agreements and protect users, PlusYar and the public
We do not use the contents of private messages to build advertising profiles. If PlusYar introduces a materially different use, we will provide any notice or choice required by law before that use begins.
5. Legal bases
Where a legal basis is required, we rely on one or more of the following:
- Contract: to provide the features you request and administer your account.
- Consent: for optional device permissions, certain sensitive information and other processing where the law requires consent. You may withdraw consent through app or device settings or by contacting us.
- Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, understand and improve the Services; prevent misuse; and support users, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligations and legal claims: to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal process and establish, exercise or defend rights.
- Vital interests: when necessary to address a credible and urgent risk to someone's safety.
6. Visibility and sharing
Your choices affect who can see information. Public profiles, events or communities may be visible to a broad audience and may appear in discovery or on a map. Private items require an invitation. Open events or communities allow eligible users to join directly; approval-required items require an organizer or administrator to accept the request.
Other participants may see information needed to coordinate a plan, such as your display name, profile photo, membership or attendance status, and content you share. Messages are visible to their intended participants. Organizers and administrators may see join requests, answers and moderation information needed to manage their event or community.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect safety, enforce our rules, comply with valid legal process, or support a merger, financing, reorganization or sale subject to appropriate safeguards.
7. Service providers and international transfers
We use providers that support functions such as cloud hosting and storage, authentication, maps and location, notifications, email, app distribution, customer support, analytics, crash reporting, security and content delivery. They may process only the information needed to perform their services under contractual or legal safeguards.
The Services and our providers may process information outside your country. Where required, we use recognised safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy decisions, contractual protections or another lawful transfer mechanism. You may contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your request.
8. How long we keep information
We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above. Retention depends on factors such as whether your account is active, the type and visibility of content, organizer or community administration needs, safety and fraud risks, legal obligations, dispute periods and technical backup cycles.
When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it, or isolate it until deletion is possible. Content you shared with other people may remain in their conversations or in an event or community after you leave or delete your account where removing it would affect other users, unless law or a valid request requires otherwise.
9. Your choices and privacy rights
You can edit many profile details, visibility choices, notification preferences and device permissions in PlusYar or your device settings. You can leave events and communities, block accounts and request account deletion.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal information; object to or restrict processing; withdraw consent; and complain to a privacy regulator. Some rights have legal exceptions. We may need to verify your identity and authority before completing a request.
You can submit a privacy request, email support@plusyar.com, or follow our account deletion instructions. We will respond in accordance with the time and process required by applicable law.
10. Security
We use administrative, technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Protect your sign-in credentials, use current software and report suspected account misuse promptly.
11. Adults only
PlusYar is intended only for people aged 18 or older, or the higher age of majority required where they live. We do not knowingly permit children to use the Services. If you believe an underage person has created an account, contact support@plusyar.com. See our Child Safety Standards.
12. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as our Services, practices or legal obligations change. The date at the top identifies the latest version. When required, we will provide additional notice in the app or through another appropriate channel.
13. Contact and requests
For privacy questions or requests, contact support@plusyar.com. Please describe your request and include the email address connected to your account. Do not send passwords, full identity documents or unnecessary sensitive information by email.
